AN EVENING WITH XINGPING FISHERMAN

AnotherMile team this time visited Xingping Village during 3 day Guilin Yangshuo tour. Xingping is located in the northeast of Yangshuo County, Guilin, 25 kilometres away from the county town. It is different from the Xingping Town in Shaanxi Province. Xingping is an ancient town combined with both cultural and natural sites and is highly recommended for a visit especially for photography enthusiasts.

Xingping is famous for “Yellow Cloth Shoal”, a spectacular sight depicted in Chinese 20 RMB note. Xingping, which was earlier a nameless little village, has been home for the local fishermen for many years. It was later titled as  President fishing village. Here you can find several skilled fishermen who are expert in cormorant fishing. The fishermen tie a knot on cormorant’s throat so that after the cormorant catches the fish, they  don’t swallow it. The fishermen later take the fish out from cormorant’s throat.

We were lucky to meet Mr. Huang Gao Hui who himself is an ace fisherman. We spent one evening with Mr. Hui shooting his different fishing skills. It was amazing to see how Mr. Hui cast his fishing net , caught fish with his fishing rod and trained his cormorants to catch the fishes. Later during the blue hour, Mr. Hui lit up a lamp in the pitch dark background and created a magical environment.  AnotherMile team captured  all those magical moments and put forward in the photo gallery “ An Evening with Xingping Fisherman”
